Ayya Vaikundar, according to the life account given in Arul Nool, was born as Krishnacharya in Tiruchengode (modern Thirukkuvalai) in 1866. He was a born sanyasi and for the first fourteen years of his life he studied Vedic literature and was a devotee of Lord Siva.
